The dawn of 2022 brought along an invigorating wave of energy to the disc golf community with the grand opening of the Devou Park Disc Golf Course in Covington, Kentucky. Designed meticulously by Dr. Ryan Freibert, the course beckoned players and enthusiasts to explore its fresh trails. With a camera in tow, I found myself amidst a vibrant tapestry of athleticism and camaraderie that day. It was an event that not only etched a preliminary course record but also unfurled a spirited skins match with each hole holding a promise of a hearty $100 reward.
As the eyes behind UnsolicitedDiscPix, I found my purpose intertwining with each flight the discs took, and before I knew it, I was on a thrilling path of capturing the essence of disc golf.

The event was magnified through the earnest coverage by DiscGolfVanLife, helmed by Michael Johnson. The day saw seasoned players like Ryan Freibert, Pete Caldwell, Matthew Blakely, and Zach Arlinghaus carving their skill amidst the lush greens, under a clear Kentucky sky. Every throw, every cheer, every triumphant leap was a narrative in itself, and I found my camera falling in love with every frame.
The grand opening was a bouquet of engaging speeches by the architect of the course, Dr. Ryan Freibert, Commissioner Ron Washington, and Mayor Joseph U Meyer, all resonating a unanimous love and support for this burgeoning sport and its community.
As the day unfolded, the playful contest navigated through the trails, with notable moments emboldening the narrative at Hole 11, 12, 13, and 17. Each shot, each cheer carried an emblem of passion, resonating through the canopy of trees and into the hearts of everyone present.
With every click of my camera, I felt a closer bond with the sport, the players, and the ever-enthusiastic crowd that followed. The journey was as exhilarating as every swift disc cutting through the breeze, and the coverage by DiscGolfVanLife, enriched by the local supporters like The Greater Cincinnati Disc Golf Association (GCDGA), The Nati Disc Golf Shop, Disc N Dat, and the Devou Park bodies, epitomized a collective love for the sport.
