Hello, fellow disc golfers! Grace here from UnsolicitedDiscPix, and it fills my soul to share my latest adventure with you all. This time, I had the pleasure of attending the GCDGA’s fundraiser event at Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky. And let me tell you, it was a day filled with fun, competition, and a whole lot of heart!
The Greater Cincinnati Disc Golf Association pulled out all the stops to host this singles tournament at Devou Park. The aim? To raise funds for the Devou Park Disc Golf Course, which had sadly been vandalized twice in just three months. But, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. The event saw players from all walks of life come together, united by their love for the sport and a shared goal to restore the course to its former glory.

Ryan Friebert, the man behind the magic, couldn’t contain his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the disc golf community. He reminisced about reuniting with old friends and making new ones, emphasizing how special the day was. A special shoutout to Jimmy Boyer, the General Manager at Devou, for opening up the venue for this fantastic cause. And of course, a big thanks to the crew who helped set up and tear down the event. You guys rock!
Now, let’s talk about the day itself. The Devou Golf Course was transformed into a thrilling 18-hole course, challenging players with its unique terrain and obstacles. And guess what? A whopping 164 competitors took on the challenge! Jackson Kemper, an amateur from Morning View, Kentucky, stole the show with a total score of -11. Alex Lee and Ben Winks, both professionals, followed closely behind, tying for second place with a score of -8. Kudos to all the participants!

But wait, there’s more! The event had some nail-biting competitions, like the CTPs (closest to pin) and long drive challenges. And the winners? Ben Winks, Nick Shoemaker, Matthew Lundberg, Jordan Monnin, Jon Floyd, Justin Fairchild, Caleb Clifton, and Harrison Young, you guys were on fire!
While the players were busy battling it out on the course, I was on a mission of my own – capturing the day’s magic through my lens. The energy, the excitement, the sheer joy of the sport – I tried to encapsulate it all in my photographs. And guess what? You can relive the day’s magic by checking out the gallery!

Players like Ozgur Mert and Chuck Penick shared their experiences, emphasizing the sense of community and the sheer fun of playing on a ball course. Their words echoed the sentiments of many who attended, highlighting the event’s success.
