Experience the Ultimate Doubles Game at Lincoln Ridge!

Estimated Reading Time: ⏳ 3 minutes

Nature’s Challenge: Winds and cold at Lincoln Ridge.

On Sunday, October 8th, the Lincoln Ridge Disc Golf Course was alive with excitement, or that might have been the shivering from the weather. Even as cold winds tested every player’s skill and had us reaching for our jackets, the enthusiasm was undeniable for Kaylee and Austin Law’s unique Worst Shot Doubles Tournament and I had the privilege of capturing every exhilarating moment through my lens!

Mastering Doubles: The unique Worst Shot format.

For those unfamiliar, the Worst Shot Doubles format is all about teamwork. In this unique game, teams play from the least favorable shot between the two players on each hole until they make it in the basket. And let me tell you, with the wind playing tricks, there were plenty of “worst shots” to choose from!

Victory in the Cold: Alex and Eric’s triumph.

In the face of gusty winds, Alex and Eric clinched the top spot with a commendable score of +2. Following closely, Justin and Dustin achieved 2nd place with a score of +4, but only after a nail-biting CTP throw-off on hole 22, with Kolten and Matthew settling into 3rd place. The suspense during the throw off had everyone on edge, especially with the threat of an algae pit lurking just to the left of the basket. After their victories, the top players were awarded tournament prizes from Northern Kentucky’s preferred Disc golf shop, Disc ‘n Dat!

Unity on Course: Northern Kentucky’s disc golf gathering.

This event was more than just a tournament; it was a gathering of the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati disc golf community. Players cheered for one another, shared light-hearted moments over missed shots, and cursed at every roll away. Disc ‘n Dat was the big hero here and the sense of community was further bolstered by the support from Tacky Saks, who provided premium grip bags, and Brody Thoreson, whose generous sponsorship and involvement were instrumental in making the event a success.

Day’s Reflection: The impact of the Lincoln Ridge event.

Amidst the challenging conditions, the Lincoln Ridge Worst Shot Doubles Tournament highlighted the enduring spirit every disc golfer possesses. Even though the cold and wind might have been deterrents for some, for Kaylee and Austin Law, for us, they introduced an adventurous dimension to the game. Each shot, influenced by the elements, made every moment on the course deeply memorable, the worst even more memorable. Reflecting on this experience fills me with anticipation and excitement, eagerly looking forward to sharing many more exhilarating days on the course with all of you in the future!
